I got rear-ended in my '98 900SET. This didn't do much damage but it was on the interstate and was raining, and the impact shoved me into the car in front of me literally crushing
I have an EXCELLENT body shop near me in Atlanta (I mean less than 2 minutes from my house, if I want!) They specialize in restoring classic cars, but will fix anything you bring them - there are Mercs, BMW's, Hondas, whatever in their lot. The did all the work and only use original manufacturer parts, and the finished product was indistinguishable from new. The only time I've had a car at a dealer body shop I was extremely disappointed with a) the time it took, b) the lack of cleaning and nice finish for the mess they caused doing the repairs and c) their overall attitude about customer service. Mind you this was not a Saab dealer, but I think you need to know about your dealer's body shop, and whether they are any good. A good independent shop might be better and cheaper than a lot of dealers, whether or not you intend to keep the car.
