They tooled up and started building the 9-3SS in the spring or early summer, right? I assume they built up enough to get a few to each dealer on the planet and then have more waiting to ship. I've seen ramp ups for Toyota models in my job and that's the basic model. I bet they have a large stash just waiting to ship out, and if the car is the success they think it will be, they will eat into that overstock quite quickly.
How many cars are they building in a shift?
How many lines?
2 shifts a day?
How long are the shifts and work weeks in Sweden?
Do they allow overtime?
500 cars is not much time. A few Saturdays could do it.
I know France allows only about 37 hours a week of production, and no overtime. All the plants I work in here in North America have 8 hour production shifts with a max of 2 hours overtime per shift. Sometimes they have saturday production. I've seen heavy amounts of overtime on Toyota Corolla and Matrix shops due to demand. If I were to wager a guess, the Swedes probably are closer to the French with their labor laws.
