After 100,000 leak free miles my car has rewarded me with a bad oil leak at the rear seal and valve cover gaskets. I cannot positively say the switch to synthetic Mobil 1 10-30 has caused this, but leaks apperaing a couple of weeks after the changeover is one hell of a coincidence. I know that others on the board will jump on this, but I wanted to let you know this really happened to me.
I will wait till clutch replacement time and live with the leaks until I can get the rear seal replaced. In the meantime, I will stock up on oil dry and cardboard. My mechanic thought I was nuts to switch to synthetic at this point in the car's life. In retrospect, I would stick with my crud building dino oil, or go with synthetic from day one.
