Same thing happened to me, '99 9-3 base. The SID message appeared. I cleared it and ignored it. A week later the alarm would go off while I was driving. Then it would go off while the car was parked with or without the car being turned on. The alarm is extremely loud and quite annoying when you can't shut it off (I read the manual and followed directions to attempt to disengage the alarm and nothing worked). I brought it to the dealer the next day and they replaced the alarm siren itself (under warranty at the time). Since then (1 year ago), no issues with alarm. I would bring it to the dealer and have them check the siren on the alarm.
