Just purchased a 1999 9-3 with 31k miles and like it. Buyers inspection
turned up a broken air distribution knob. I thought not a problem
because warranty will handle it. I ask dealer to have my heater
box replaced since service records show previous owner was in twice for
this same problem, and now this is third time. Service manager is
required to follow standard "new" Saab procedure 8702383 for the fix,
especially since this is first time this dealership has seen this car.

Repair invoice parts listed as:

2 7976897 Screws
2 8781718 Molycote PG-21
1 4364279 Control Shaft ( which was broken )
1 5174669 Cableclimatectr

I was told that Saab no longer replaces heater boxes, that someone in
their think tank came up with this new solution and it works(?).
Is my experience just a repeat story or is this really a new bulletin
8702383? Can't find it anywhere but have seen other related saabnet posts.
