Sway Bar Experience Question

Wanted to ask all of you that have the SAS sway bar on your car. Does it really make a marked difference in the handling of the car? Knowing that it is a relatively inexpensive and easy modification, debating either going this route or going with the Engstrom ECU upgrade. Want to get the biggest bang for the buck for my 99 9-3SE convertible automatic with a K&N drop-in air filter. Thoughts as to other simple modifications to go with before spending on an ECU upgrade which will cost approximately $500 vs. $125 for the sway bar? Thanks for the feedback.
