Like many owners of 1999 9-3s I find the light output of the stock 9004 headlights less than ideal. A local hardware store (!) is offering Sylvania Xtra-Vision headlight bulbs (9004XVBP) for $C8.97 (thats about $US6.00). From what I've read on this site I gather that these are not the best you can get but are certainly a step forward - do you agree? While researching this change of bulb I came across a writeup by a Volvo owner (hey, its Swedish OK!) who suggested the use of supplemental relays to improve the voltage, and therefore the light output, of the Xrta-Vision bulbs. Do any of you electical types out there have any comment on what he says? His comments are at: http://www.homestead.com/volvo2/240lighting.html. At the price of the bulbs I will pick up a couple and put them in prior to our non-stop drive from Brockville (two hours north of Syracuse, N.Y. for you US types) to Sebring for the 12 Hours of Sebring races we attend each year. Having a more brightly lit highway to drive on will improve the drive tremendously if the advice from you fellow Saabers indicates the addition of relays would add enough to make it worthwhile I might just get busy with the soldering iron and shrink wrap. TIA
