Pluses: HOT engine still pulling strong, leather and interior appearance is still like new.

Minuses: The steering rack is being replaced as soon as the parts come into my dealer - it just started leaking quite badly a few weeks ago. The driver's side airbag sensor was replaced after shorting out. The SID (info display) was replaced after crapping out. The direct ignition cassette was reaplced at 37k mi after dying on the highway (dealer said that 37k "was a bit early, but that they do die eventually"). The inside door panels rattle a lot (the SE has the "upgraded" sound system with little sub-woofers in the door panels that cause a rattle over time). The suspension is getting mushy (needs new shocks/springs?). The suspension/steering bushings make horrid noises when cold (dealer said no Saab fix, but tons of complaints, so I am stuck with it for now). The rear exterior door handles had to be replaced as they started getting sticky and/or not working. The dealer installed some foam tape in the rear seat locks (what keeps the seat locked in the upright position) to quiet down a horrible rattle. Etc.

Now, I love this car, but it is mostly because the engine pulls when I need it too and it is a hatchback. I am not going to buy this car after my lease runs out. I loved my old '78 99 (still running well at 150k mi), my '85 turbo (sold it at 172k mi - still a great car) and I loved this car when it was new. I am not terribly happy with the fit & finish quality of this car though. Too much rattle and squeak for a car of this "quality" and price, and the noises started before I had put on the first 10k miles. If I could go back in time, I think I'd have gone with something else (BMW, Audi, another old Saab, maybe a Honda S2000!).

Good luck.
