Yes it does, and I expect at higher intake temperatures, that the ECU detunes things as well.
The main mixture control is by O2 sensor feedback. That is used for fine tuning. But before the sensor(s) are hot enough to work, the system runs in open loop mode. So the air temp will be vital during this mode of operation.
T5 ECUs are a speed density type. The air flow is guessed by the RPM's and air temperature. The factors for this are tuned during O2 sensor feedback.
The T7 ECU uses an mass air flow meter (MAF). This gives a better air flow proportional signal than a speed-density computed signal. So it is more accurate. The air intake temp I guess is less significant of an input. But again, O2 sensor feedback is used to trim correction factors.
The air intake temperature signal may drive some cold starting modes where the amount of richness with a cold start may depend on the intake air temperature, as well as the engine temperature.
