Well, since the point of an airfilter is to keep dirt, dust, and small animals out of your engine, you want a filter that makes a good seal with the airbox, and doesn't let unfiltered air into your engine. A "loose" filter runs the risk of letting unfiltered air bypass it: this may actually increase performance (as does removing the filter entirely) right up until the point your engine self-destructs from trying to digest a gravel particle or pine-cone.

Get a filter that fits. I have a 33-2166 in my car, and it fits fine. I'm sure the 33-2663 fits well too: the difference in size between these is small. Both filters have a pliable rubber/foam edge which allows some slop in the initial fitment to ensure a good seal (taking into account imperfections or deformations in the original airbox), but this takes a set over time. For this reason, you should reinstall the filter oriented the same way if you remove it for whatever reason, because it may not reseal as well if it is swapped end for end
