I am excited to report that the SS2 to SS3 stereo upgrade in my Linear Launch went very well. The stereo sounds *significantly* better in every way. The kit does in fact include the upgrade to 13 speakers (the kit adds 4 tweeters and 2 subwoofers to the already installed 7 speakers). It adds an amplifier and at least two other "boxes" of some sort. I got the dealer to photocopy for me the entire install instructions which I will post to my website soon.
As for the sound of the new system, the mid and high range is just incredible. The bass has been increased dramatically, and very low frequencies are now audible. With the bass cranked to the top, there is indeed a great amount of thump from the subs. It's not quite as bass-driven as say a Lexus LS450 but it smokes most of the Bose systems I've heard (Mercedes C-Class, Infiniti G35, etc). Overall I'm very happy with the upgrade, and although I didn't really have to pay for it I would pay the $1100CDN for the upgrade happily. Considering that there are very few options for replacing/augmenting the stock system I don't think there is much more you can ask of the SS3 system.
