even with the OE tires (Pirelli P6000), it wasn't as wild and uncontrollable as all the reviews would have you believe. I recently upgraded to Bridgestone Potenza S-03's, and the majority of the noticeable torque steer is gone. If you're into modding, you can always get the Viggen Rescue Kit (search the BB's for VRK) which significantly tightens up the front end.

So far, in 55k km, mine's been trouble free, aside from a check engine light. Never left me stranded, or stuck in snow, or anything like that. By far it's the best set of wheels I've ever had.

Aside from looking at service records and the regular mechanic stuff, you may want to consider balancing the wheels (or at the very least, have a mechanic put the car on a hoist and look for flat spots on the inside of the wheels or a concentration of balance weights put there by someone attempting to balance the bent wheels). Viggens have chronic wheel bending problems, which can be quite an expensive repair if it sneaks up on you. Also, don't worry too much about scrapes on the underside of the front bumper. It happens to all of us, and it's no indication of wear or abuse.

Otherwise, check the standard mechanical issues (leaky head gasket, brakes, suspension, etc). If all of those seem to be in order, then you are probably in good shape.
