First time car owner?!? Viggen!?!
a) Not knowing what level of experience you have in any car, much less a perfomance oriented car, so just guessing that you're relatively young and relatively inexperienced (this is NOT intended to be a slight, or a dig, or offensive in any way, I have 3 young driveing age kids!) the first thing you should check is your ego . . . at the door. Leave it on the curb, or in the driveway. The point is to remember that your operating your car on public roads, so you never know exactly what situation you'll find around the next corner. We all assume it's a normal open road, cuz it usually is. Assume otherwise, just in case, then you'll always be mentally prepared to deal with it when it happens, cuz it will sooner or later. end of speech
Viggen's are 9-3's, so you're probably already aware of the various weak spots that are most obvious, such as steering flex (VRK-type fix, better rubber) and the electronic soft spots. An extended warranty may well be worth the investment. My Viggen's only at 20 months and 13K, but I'm already thinking ahead to that eventuality, and even if I end up selling it,it's a great plus for the car's value. Brake pads are probably a good, worthwhile upgrade, too, like the Greenstuff's. Much cleaner, and should help your rotors last longer. Original pads just foul your wheels in a few days!
And find a good mechanic, preferably two. Very important to help you keep your car happy, which'll keep you happy. Drive long and prosper.
