personally, my clutch was noticeable, especially when pushing in third, out of say, some stop and go traffic...seemed like my car was really hot, then when the traffic would clear, i would get on it in third to break away, and the rpms would go higher, but the car just didn't seem to be keeping up...scary..after letting it sit for awhile, it would get better...
i replaced with a viggen clutch, and no problems so far!...holding great with speedparts stg2 under aggressive driving...(and i have a cable clutch, you should be better off since you have hydraulic, mine takes a little more force to depress than the stock clutch)...
i don't know if you have a warranty, my clutch work was done when using the warranty to replace the commonly failing transmission seals on the NG900...not sure if it's a different situation with the 99 9-3, but obviously, this is the optimal time to replace the clutch...maybe you can find a leak under there that the warranty could cover??...(: this would save you a good $ on the clutch work...
*btw, genuinesaab.com has a good price on hte viggen clutch kit
