We had an '89 900 for almost 220k miles, sold it last fall.
We have an '01 9³. We bought both of them new.
I like the 9³ better. It's more powerful; '89 was n/a, both are base versions. It's more refined, more comfortable, newer (duh). With any luck it'll be at least as reliable overall. Yeah, I spent plenty of time in the garage with the 900, but that was after putting on over 100k... From what I can guess so far, the new one has much better corrosion protection.
I like the driving position of the new one better; but you have to decide that one for yourself. Lots of people here say the opposite.
I think the OLD one looked better. It looked more graceful, or something... But that's for other people to admire. I still see it around town, but the new owner already ran into something. The bottom lip under the front bumper is gone. (whimper...)
