Like Mark says, it's all about common sense. I've done it often enough. Besides, whaddya think happens when you drive during a hard rain??

Don't do it with a hot engine. Thermal shock isn't a good thing.

Don't use a spray that's strong enough to pull hoses & wiring apart. Duh...

Several components have small air vents. You don't want water to get in there.
Battery caps are vented.
Brake fluid reservoir is vented.
Headlight & foglight housings...
Transmissions are usually vented, somewhere.

Manual transmissions have some way for the clutch to be actuated. Throwout fork on my Integra, Saab 9³ has an opening on top of the bellhousing where the hydraulic line goes in to the slave cylinder.

If you know your way around the engine compartment of ANY car, you'll recognize things in a Saab. They're nice, but there's nothing magical or mysterious about them.
