on my (old) 9-3, and I like it. The lights now operate as follows:

Position 0: no lights at all
Position 1: 5 watt city lights / fog lights on or off plus parking lights front/rear
Position 2: main headlights (+ high) / fog lights on or off, plus parking lights f/r

The only bummer is that Position 1 (not sure about Position 2 -- perhaps it's the same way) doesn't automatically turn off when you remove the key. Is that the way it should be?

I personally think this is the way the car should come from the factory -- let the 5W fronts and the parking lights be the DRLs. Of course, this would require people to think and put on their main headlights during inclement weather, so maybe Saab doesn't think US people can handle that. Plus, with this, you can actually use the fogs without turning on the main headlights. The main headlights just light up the fog instead of the road.
