Coolant temp and AC trouble

This might provide useful information if your AC compressor cycles too much or won't run at all. I was experiencing a faulty coolant temp indicator (on the dash next to fuel gauge) on my '99 9-3 since last winter. First it would drop to Cold and maybe return to normal and as it got worse it never left Cold. At first, hitting the Night Panel switch would occasionally correct it but as it got worse this quit having an effect. I replaced the thermostat just in case it was faulty but that didn't fix the problem. As everything else seemed ok, I just lived with the problem.
Now that hot weather is here I began having problems with the AC compressor either cycling too quickly or not starting at all. The indy shop added 1 lb of refrigerant but that didn't help. They finally replaced the evap temp sensor and now the AC is fine and the coolant temp sensor works normally as well, a pleasant surprise. They said the AC controller was losing its ground because of the bad evap sensor.
Q1, Based on this, I am assuming that the coolant temp sensor is somehow connected to the evaporator temp sensor. I might have been able to figure this out if I had a schematic. Is there a website with these or do I need to buy this from the Saab dealer?
Q2, Is the evap temp sensor the same as the frost sensor that Dean referred to (in other posts)? If so, I guess I can expect the compressor over temp switch to fail soon... The shop didn't replace it.
