as you will bend them the first time you don't see a pot hole under the slush. I was tempted to run the stock wheels or a 17" aftermarket wheel with a 17" snow like the Pilot Alpin. Then common sense and recommendations from this board kicked in and I bought a Saab winter wheel and tire package.
The deal can't be beat...4 16" factory alloys with Gislaved(sp) snows for between $800-1000. I was lucky and picked mine up last week for $800 including a set of center caps. One major advantage to this is that you can take them on and off youself which decreases the amount of time that you have the snows on your car. Do a search on winter wheels or just look back a couple of weeks and you will find my thread which has links to some pics of another list members Viggen with the winter package installed.
FWIW, The Viggen is the only car that I have owned where I would not run snows on the 17" factory wheels. The profile is just too low and the wheel is too soft.
BTW, Anyone that tells you that you are crazy for driving a Viggen in the snow is crazy! I have friends with new 996tts that have winter wheels and tires for playing in the snow. I high performance car in the the snow is truely a joy when mounted with the right tires. Although the Colorado snow may just be more fun to drive on thus skewing my perception of reality! ;)
