Unless you are always operating under "ideal" conditions (long highway trips at 100 km/h and light throttle) then I'd halve that 24,000 km/15,000 mile interval.
Change the oil at the halfway point but don't reset the service indicator. That way it'll indicate the need for an oil change in another 12,000 km/7,500 mi.
Most Amsoil folks feel that a good synthetic can actually go longer than that on a turbo (to 16,000 km/10,000 mi) but then if you did that, your intervals would be askew with the service indicator.
As I understand it, the 9-3SS calculates oil life based on number of cold starts, fuel consumption, rpm, and other parameters--a dielectric oil sensor is not utilized (I think only MB currently puts this into production cars)
There's actually an ongoing oil study using M1 5W-30 in a V8 Camaro, I think they're up to 14,000 miles on it already. Same 6 quart sump capacity, but makeup oil has been added due to oil sampling and consumption, and it's not a turbo. The author will make calculations for these oil top-ups at the end of the study.
