It does attach to the wheel well, and you remove one of the rivets holding the plastic shield there, enlarge the hole and then bold the other end of the brace on. There's really only one way for it to go once you get that far along it's pretty obvious. The KIC instructions were decent and once underway adequate for me to find my way through it, and I'm a VERY novice mechanic. I've yet to do my own oil changes, so it can't be that hard.
