Hi all,
Twas done at North shore Saab (NY) today. BTW, a quite confusing location! Both Honda and Saab dealer share the facility but there no Saab sign readily visible. I thought they gave up on Saab and changed to Honda at first! Took me over an hour with the wrong map from mapquest.
After 3 months and over 10K miles of driving (some of it in the roughest roads in country), all four of my wheels are bent:-( I think it came with two bent. It was expected, but still disappointing. Now the ride is so rough and vibration galore. Probably i'll have to deal with it at least until winter.
As I suspected based on info from members here, the Check Engine Light I had been getting intermittantly over the last month or so had been due to bad DI cassette! Surprise, surprise. Still surprising it only lasted 30K miles. I'm so thankful i wasn't stranded in the middle of a traffic jam. And apparently, DIC failure doesn't have to be abrupt. Dealer replaced the DIC under warranty.
It was my first visit to dealer in NY after I moved here, and overall I am pretty satisfied. Of course I couldn't see and talk to the mechanic as I did in Iowa, but Peter, the head mechanic seemed very professional and courteous. He even had patience to listen to my unsuccessful trial of MTF 0063 change request based on info here. I couldn't make a good case when the shifting problem occurred once every month or so. But, he said he's willing to change if any notable problem occur during the warranty period. I'm not sure if I should hope for the problem to occur or not though ;-)
Mission accomplished, and Yay! I'm back to a happy healthy Viggen owner.
