Dealers being truthful... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Sat, 16 Aug 2003 16:33:57 In Reply to: Marketing thoughts/observations, Ed NC, Sat, 16 Aug 2003 06:14:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The dealer is probably advetising cars that he actually has availible for sale, and not the base, manual transmission no metallic paint cars that the factory advertises for lease.
The factory ad on a 9-3 Linear is $299 for 36 months, 10k miles, with $1,499 down. Take away the $1,499, up the miles from 10k to 12k, add an automatic, sunroof and metallic paint, and $399 ain't so bad.
The convertible probably has a $12-14k higher list price so it takes 48 months, 10k miles and $4864 to get to the same payment. Not bad from where I sit considering how much more the convetible lists for.
As a rule of thumb, a lease payment around 1% the sticker with around 10% down, takes serious subventing (factory contribution) to make reality.
