The auto climate control on my '99 Viggen has been acting up lately. When I turn it on "Auto", it always starts out by directing low speed fan air to the floor vents and defrost (split to each), no matter what temperature is requested or how hot or cold it actually is in the cabin. Then it switches to panel vents (or floor if it's winter) and hi speed fan when air of the requested temperature is ready to blow. This is annoying, but ok, and it's always been that way. (I'm assuming this is normal ACC behavior - let me know if it's not)

Recently, it's been getting confused or something, and after doing the above nonsense, it never gets to the panel vents. The display shows that it's blowing out of the panel vents, but air is actually coming out of the floor vents, or sometimes a combo of floor and panel. Fan speed kicks up to hi as usual, though.

I can usually get it to blow out of the panel vents by first hitting defrost, waiting till it actually blows out the defroster, and then manually selecting panel.

Any clues as to what's up? It doesn't always mess up like this, and never when the dealer has the car. If I can get some clues, maybe the dealer will be able to find the problem. Thankfully I first complained about this before my warranty ran out, so there's a ticket open and it should be covered if we ever figure out what's wrong.

It's been over 100 here in Wichita for the last week or two, so it's kind of annoying not to have the AC working right...

Thanks,
Jeff J
