In response to the last post re: bringing your own parts to a local shop, I'd strongly advise you check with your mechanic and see if he'll work on your car with parts you bring him before buying them. Most garages will not do this due to indemnity issues. If something goes wrong, they can go back to their parts supplier for relief whereas if the brakes squeal with your parts, or God forbid, you crash due to faulty brakes for whatever reason, they are out cold. They won't take the risk. You'll pay for it one way or another at the mechanics. The few I've seen take customer's parts will flat out say that they need to get a slightly higher rate to make up for the lack of margin on the parts.
Buy the rotors and pads yourself. It's about the easiest costly dealer job you can do on these cars. Just did my rears:
$50 bucks per rotor, $28 for pads, 40 minutes per side including jacking, removing/replacing wheels, etc. So what if it takes you twice as long the first time. It's an easy and rewading job. Have fun learning.
