I stopped by the authorized Saab Service Center I usually use Tuesday morning to ask them about the CEL and whether it was safe to drive until I could get an appointment (they were really booked up today after the holiday weekend). The service manager said that as long as my 9-3 was running as usual (no misfires, power loss, serious drop in gas mileage) that it should be OK until Thursday. He said it might be the DI cassette, but there could be other causes also.

The only bummer was I found out they would not accept my MasterCare extended warranty from AAA. They said I would have to pay and then get re-imbursed from MasterCare. (They said this was due to getting burned on other aftermarket extended warranty programs.) Now I have to call the MasterCare folks because they said this shouldn't happen since they pay the shop directly with a credit card number. Looks like the "bad apples" out there are making it difficult for the legit companies and their clients.
