I would use new clamps at the heater core. Since you now know the design of them, I have a feeling that they bulge out under pressure and with age and allow the O-ring to creep out just enough so that coolant seeps by.
By using the old ones, you might speed up the time when they start to leak again.
I would like to find another solution on those clamps, like a metal one.
