If it does fuel cuts at teh beginning of the red, something is quite wrong. The fuel cuts are driven by the MAP signal level. The map signal level also via the ECU drives the boost indicator.
The ECU may limit boost to a lesser level than a 5sp. But quite a few folks have a MBC on an autobox and we don't see what you have reported.
To answer your question. A bad BPC typically produces low boost levels. A stuck solenoid might lead to higher boost, not seen however. But this has little to do with a fuel cut at moderate boost levels close to the beginning of the red zone.
