Yes, I've driven the old one, but it's a couple of years ago ...
But as I remember the drive, the new one is a completely different car (as we all know, of course), and a much better car ...
The new is, as I wrote, much more stiff, and it is possible to drive it more agressivly, I would say close to a sedan (that is, on normal streets, in normal traffic, hasn't tried it on e.g. a closed circut) ...
The roof is quick to open and close, and it's just to push one button.
The car I normally drive is a 1999 9-5 SE Estate, and I immediately noticed difference between the 9-5 and the 9-3 conv (not so strange after all, the 9-5 is a larger car ...)
The motor (I think it was the 175 hp, I suppose I was too exited to notice such "details" :-), was more than adequate for me (and the roads in Oslo, Norway).
The car had the automatic, sentronic. I drove the first, introduction models of the 9-3 SS about one year ago, also with the sentronic. Although there's still some lag when shifting gear, I think it was much more responsive in the convert than in the SS.
Best regards
Frode Langseth
