Bank 1 cat is the small catalyst right there at the turbo outlet. Just behind/below the radiator fan. So it could be a bad cat or a bad O2 sensor; which is how the ECU measures catalyst operation. Bank 2 is sorta underneath the console.
I'd take a good look at your warranty booklet. Do they cover catalyst but not O2 sensor? Maybe both?
