I saw that car on Ebay a month or so ago. Looked sharp -- nice setup. I liked the BBS rims, roof rack, and black front grill (he had that done special). As an owner of a 1999 Viggen I just got excitied thinking I could push out 300 HP. As much as even I was tempted to look at a modded car and think I could pay pennies on the dollar for the mods I would have to know the guy well in order to buy that car.
A few notes on that car: I emailed the dealer selling the car because the car had "TCS" and On-Star which were NOT available in 1999. We debated that a bit here as to how easy that would be to add. He said it was stock which is BS. So my BS meter went up. He could have added that later, but probably for a decent price -- not that money poured into mods was an issue for this guy. He even had a 2002 style key made for it. They told me he owned a tire shop and was a car nut. I could see that. I bet the car was autocrossed if he owns a tire shop -- just a hunch. Still also likely well maintained.
All that said if it was in great shape and abotu $3K less it would be a bad ride -- I would take my chances...I would want to meet or talk to the original owner if I could.
If you get it let us know. That would be a nice addition to the Saabnet Viggen crowd. Another thought is that with all the extra goodies that guy bought you could probably sell some piecemeal and get some money off the car -- That extra set of winter rims would easily fetch $750 to $800 -- they looked great.
