Wow... 6000 miles! I knew the Pirellis were soft (rubber) but - wow. How hard do you drive your car? Do you accelerate hard?
Wear in the middle usually indicates overinflation and hard/fast starts from a stop.

I can only speak to what I've experienced with Pirelli tires... I had a set of the P6000s on my '01 9-3SE. When they were new they had great grip and handled well in wet conditions (weren't that great in the snow though). At about 25K mi. things started to go downhill really quickly (handling became worse and road noise was awful). I drove them to 35K mi. - to the point where the noise was so awful I couldn't take it any longer and they were worn to the wear bars. Had them replaced with a set of Yokohamas with a treadwear rating of 460.

A lot of it has to do with the way you drive. Several people were impressed that I managed to get 35K out of the P6000s. Most people end up changing those before 20K. Then again, most of my driving is highway and I'm not very hard on tires/brakes. I keep my tires inflated to the recommended psi in the owner's manual.

I don't believe OEM tires come with a warranty and if they did I would be surprised if Pirelli guarantees their soft performance tires w/ a mileage warranty. Can't hurt to ask your dealer though. Regardless, its time to get the good ones from the back on the front to even out the wear. Once all four are shot, replace them with something that is made of harder rubber and has a higher treadwear rating (can be found on the sidewall) if short tire life troubles you... Of course harder rubber = slightly worse grip/cornering performance.
