Our yr2000 9-3 (the 185hp version) is giving us our first trouble. We live a long way from the nearest dealer (over 400 km), so before I have it towed or driven that distance can someone tell me what we are likely dealing with? The engine will only start if I step on the throttle. It will then run if the rpms are kept up above 1000, but it will not idle. After the first sign of trouble I drove it home. It seems fine on the road although the Engine Malfunction (check engine) warning light stays on while the engine is running. When parked the engine sounds smooth above 1000rpm but as the rpms drop it begins to run rough and then stops. There is no burning smell which other posts have said is a sign of a failed D.I. Cassette. We have had - 20 C weather for a few days if that might have something to do with it.

All help appreciated.
