Saab runs such great lease deals many of the Viggens were leased and beat. Thats my theory. When I was looking for a mint Viggen it was hard to find -- many of the off lease Viggens were treated like most lease cars, not as an enthusiast would have treated it.
The Viggen also invites you to drive like a nut so I am sure that doesn't help. One thing I learned in Economics was the "market for lemons" theory -- basically all used cars not privately sold to friends or family have a much higher likelyhood of being lemons or less than desireable otherwise surely someone would snap it up. Seems logical. I certainly always try to sell my cars to friends or via Saabnet -- sure enough it sold quickly...my lemons (audi allroad, Jeep Cherokee) -- those pups got traded! I did a carfax on my audi -- its a 2001 w/30K miles on it now and has had 2 owners since me -- ouch -- that sucks! I think it currently for sale somewhere in California.
