Once the hoses and harness are free, the rubber collar and IAC are pulled up to get the collar to slide off of the roll pin that is in the intake manifold. The IAC is a friction fit in the collar. Perhaps the IAC can be slid out with the collar left on the pin.
The ECU appears to have learned how the IAC needed to be set when starting and will re-adapt to the new state of affairs.
The IAC deposits can be hard. The TB bore deposits are less so, perhaps because of more oil in the air stream through the TB at high flow rates. The IAC is really doing very little when on the throttle, and the ECU amy simply not power the IAC at all when it sees that one is off of the throttle stop. The throttle position 'switch' resistance would convey that.
