This has been discussed many times. The gap width controls the voltage required to break down the gap. But the boost pressure has a greater effect in raising the required voltage. The primary cause of failure is heat. So there is not much that you can do.

Higher spark gap break down voltages will have some effect on the coils. But that has little to do with the failure of the electronics.
