Yes.. I'm inordinately fond of Saabs.. for no real reason :-)..having had one in the Household since Wife brought a New one Home in '84.
Helped Son buy his ahem... Beater 9k a while back.. and have spent literally hundreds of hours on it..paying for my foolishness, rebuilding Damn near everything including the Trans. It now boosts consistently to 16/18 psi.. resulting is silly acceleration.. when and IF the traffic allows. Lotsa Fun, but not much practical use tho :-)
Yes I know the 9-3 can be modded.. but frankly . I don't think It's worth the Effort., it's one Strange Car. The slit like front windshield gives the impression of being in a Concrete Pill Box machine gun Nest, the car feels a lot longer than it actually is while driving it..it would be Great for carrying a Sofa... but how many times would one do that inna lifetime? The interior is simply Dour.. Blue grey fuzzy fur everywhere.
I had an '84 SC a few years back :-) it's interior absolutely belied the cost of that car, so most any interior is a perceptual 'upgrade', I understand your viewpoint... But the Porsche has decent sized Windows/visibilty.. Big difference.
Even the Saab 9-3 Remote is laughable.. a goofy rubber lump of a thing, first thought it was one of those floatation things Boaters use as Keychain preservers, sadly it wasn't.
Wife bought the Acura TSX... Much quicker than the Saab.. Much smoother.. and all without Balance Shafts... A whole different world in Luxo and Creature comforts.. with an as yet unmatched reliabilty background.
Hell even my SC had to get a new Transbox.. under Warantee thankfully :-)
No.. this 9-3 thing has quenched any desire I ever had to buy another Saab.
The Automotive goalposts have moved so far so quickly, that Saab .. errr.. GM willl likely never get them in sight again.
Thanx for the Input tho .. it was interesting.
