My dealer told me today that it simply is not possible to link an iPod to my 2003 SE Convertible except using an FM modulator because I have no "aux input" (the new iCruze by Monster Cable might be an option IF I had the trunk-mounted CD changer, which I don't). It occurred to me that replacing the head unit might be an option if: (1) it's not too expensive (the 6-disc changer is $600 so I guess it's all relative); (2) it's MP3 compatible (or at least has an "aux input"); (3) the SID and steering wheel controls still function the way they should; and (4) the sound quality is not compromised. Does anyone have any words of wisdom on this seemingly drastic measure to link an iPod on a pre-2004 model? My dealer recalled replacing only one head unit and he says the sound quality "was never the same." If only I had waited a year .... Thanks.
