2001 9-3 Base - Audio upgrade to SE level??? Posted by Randy Thatcher [Email] (#22) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Randy Thatcher) on Mon, 8 Nov 2004 00:00:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Tomorrow I should be picking up my a 2001 9-3 base coupe. It will be nice to get back into a 9-3 as I haven't owned one in over a year.
Anyway, I've driven SE loaners and the sound system is considerably better. I think the head unit is the same, I think it's just more speakers and an amp. Is this true?
What parts are required?
Any good idea for used parts? TSN sponsors, saab graveyards, etc?
Will I need a Tech 2 at any point?
Any potential problems when taking the door panels apart? Any airbag sensors or similar goodies to watch out for?
Before anyone says to go aftermarket... The ONLY way I'd even consider it is if I could keep the steering wheel button functions.
I would go with some aftermarket speakers, though. I'm running Blaupunkts in my SPG, and they're OK. What works well in the 9-3's? Infinity? MB Quartz?
I'll be tinting out the windows this week and will probably order up a DI to throw in the trunk.
Thanks!!!
Randy
