Can anyone give me some info on timing chain problems experienced with early examples, circa 2000, of the GM 2.2td engine installed in the 9.3?

I have a seized engine with valve damage due to this issue.

It would appear the problem is known as both independent and main dealers who have seen the car have all said they know of the problem and even though the vehicle is out of warranty SAAB quickly agreed to pay for parts, however the £1700 labour is something I will also be pursuing!

I assume that later engines had the problem fixed and I know this range of engines has now been superceded by FIAT/Alfa variants.

Any info on this problem would be appreciated.
