Hello Thanks for the help. I found the 8 pin Din. I guess that when I checked out the system the first time I unplugged the cable, pushed it to the back and forgot about it, never to be seen again… until now. I also now know about the amp. When I had the glove compartment off when running wires to the amp and subwoofer for the trunk I saw a metal box and assumed that it was the computer, since I have seen computers there before. Now I know that is the amp. This is great, now I will have to make an 8 pin dim to RCA adapter to run the preouts from my head unit to the saab amp. One question although: Why does the wire diagrams for the cable to the amp and the direct speaker outputs from the Saab head unit have a front L, Front R, Rear L and Rear R. I am guessing the front speaker outs from the head unit goes to the dash speakers, the front preamp outs to the amp go to the door speakers. What about the rear speakers? Is such that you can hook it up with the head unit powering the rears speakers or the saab amp powering them? If I were to have the saab amp power the rears, would I not connect the rear speaker outs from the new head unit and just send the preamps outs to the saab amp? I did a quick search on the net and did not find any details. Does anyone know the specs for the saab amp (output watts, cross over setting if any). I know that some have called the door speakers subwoofer, but they are the same as the rear speakers and I really would not call 6” speakers subwoofers. Besides they are two-way speakers as I can remember and the high frequency tweeter would not work with a LPF used with subwoofers. They would put out a lower frequency component of the music, but not like a subwoofer. I could do some trial and error to find these answers, but I would appreciate any help to speed things up.

Thanks again
keith

ps. Obviously I got the car used. It is the 1999 9-3 SE model, I believe with the premium package, since it has power everthing (even passenger seat). However, I do not believe that it has the high output engine. When I first did research on the car, I thought all the 9-3 SE convertibles had the high output engines. According to the VIN number and its translation from a 1999 owners manual it does not. So I am a little confused about the packages for this car.
