My 2000 9-3 had a loud popping from the front suspension also. When breaking hard you could hear two loud pops, gun the engine under hard acceleration and they would pop back again. Took it to my local saab service and they found it to be the bolts that hold the lower suspension arms in place were not torqued down enough. Said it happens with higher mileage and the high power engine can work them loose. It is an easy fix and you can do it yourself. I think there are three bolts for each side. Tighten them down and you have one of your problems solved. If ignored this could be a big deal, in that the bolts could work loose or snap and then you are dragging your lower suspension arm.

As for the groan/squeak, that just might be old/worn struts or strut bumpers. I have a toyota that does that when it gets cold and it is the top-out bumper on top of the strut.
