Even with a soda can, it wobbles enough to splash when you hit a bump...

Since nobody actually answered your question, here goes. Hope my old memory is OK...
The SID display above the cup-spiller is pressed in. Open the cupthing to help get a grip, & gently pry the SID straight out.

The coffespiller is attached to the 'cage' around the SID opening. You probably have to flex it a bit to get it un-latched from the surrounding dash.

After using it awhile, the REAL fun will be dismantling that air-vent stacked-cutout air-aiming mechanism to clean the sticky residue out.
