$22,000 would be a fair price. You can bet that a "Buick" dealer would not pay even wholesale for that car on trade-in or at auction. In all likelihood, the dealer got it as a steal of 19-20k at auction.

So be fair to yourself and to him. Give him a 2k profit. Ask yourself one question: how many people going to the Buick dealer would be interested in a Viggen? You need to be a Saab-o-phile to know what you're getting. Also, most buyers don't go for an automatic tranny. So there is a very limited population of buyers for this car. More than likely, the dealer knew he was getting a good deal and wanted to get a quick turnaround on the conv in spring. Go in at 21k and be willing to go to 22k and if he counters with 22.5 and you really want it, do it.
