Depends upon the fequency of the intermitent fault. Most dealers do not want to invest the time to diagnose an intermitent fault. They start the car, drive it for 3 minutes around the block, then say "fault did not occur".
My wife's 9-5 wagon went in for 2 problems: fist was the car stalling intermitently--it was definately an electrical problem; second was a rising tone quite loud sound (like a something closing under vacuum) that typically occures on start-up.
Well, for problem number 1, the dealer was too lazy to trace all the wires and sent us on our way not able to diagnose the problem. 3 days later the car stalled in the construction area of a freeway. My wife and 16 month old daughter were almost hit hard. Back to the dealer the car goes, this time they find it--a loose wire to the DI cassette. This could have been found the fist time had the checked all the wires.
The second problem still has to be fixed after 3 trips to the dealer. One time they told me it was the turbo charger. Yeah, that's it, the turbo makes enough noise at idle to drown out the radio. Even saying this proves that know very little about mechanicals!
Unfortunately, in my area, we have only one SAAB dealer and SAAB USA has not seemed to care whether they do a good job or not. The next closest one is over 120 miles away!
