Just changed out the rear pads and rotors a few weeks ago. Apparently just in time, as the temperature has turned quite brisk.
I did rear pads (PBR metal master) and rotors (Zimms) from Trollhattan/CyberTroll, and removed the calipers to paint them. Painted the calipers to combat some of the rust, and just black - nothing ricey. Took about seven hours for completion. Time was spent dowdling, and warming up a bit. Also allowed time for drying of the calipers and inexperience. With brakes, I did not want to rush anything.
The hardest part was the e-brake star mechanism thingy. Don't remember anything like that when I worked on the rear brakes of my old Eclipse. Didn't tighten the e-brake back up as well as I should of after the procedure was finished.
I was surprised to find the rotor set screw was the least of my worries, and no, it was not difficult to remove at all! Lucky me!!!
I could do just the pads in about 30 mins if I had to. A simple, remove the spring and pins, pull out old pads, and reverse with fresh ones. I was surprised to see how easy it was. Without removing and painting the calipers, I would imagine more like 5-6 hours or slightly less, especially now knowing what I have-to/should do! A conservative estimate of course.
Used lots of antiseize and the likes, and re-used the shims from the old Saab pads. I had more life on them than the Saab mechanic led me to believe several months ago.
I hope this helps! Sorry for the length.
