I've got a Viggen I bought brand-spankin'-new in 1999. I'm approaching 90,000 miles (unfortunately). The car has been fantastic, and still is, save for this pesky Check Engine light. I've read other posts regarding Code P0171 on "regular" 9-3s, and am wondering if the same suggestions apply to the Viggen.
The upstream O2 sensor was replaced a week ago, and 3-4 days later, the light came back on. My brother attached his OBDII and claims that the new sensor seems to be switching properly (I've also noticed a minor improvement in fuel economy).
I've read that this could be a problem with the "air mass meter" (not sure what that is), a bad ground of the O2 sensor, or some type of fuel delivery problem (dirty filter/injectors). Does this sound correct? My brother (a Dodge mechanic) has penciled me in for tomorrow afternoon to have a look at it, and I'd love to provide him with some leads (I can't afford the dealer expense right now).
Thanks!
Chris M.
