Idler and tensioner died this week

When the battery on my 2003 9-3 SS died on Monday morning, I tried to jump it with my wife's '97 900S, in -15C weather. About 30 seconds after I started her car, I smelled burning rubber and quickly shut if off. Sure enough the idler pulley had melted down and welded itself to the belt.
So here I am, in -16C weather, blowing snow and neither Saab working. Geez. Roadside assistance came 4 hours later and we jumped my 2003 and off to the dealer I went to get an in stock idler pulley (Cdn$74 including tax). That took 15 minutes to replace, but I discovered that the tensioner was frozen and so I could not get the belt back over the idler pulley. So I had to get the car towed to the dealer and they replaced the belt (also about Cdn$70) and the tensioner (Cdn$250). And 1 hours labor. The belt was recently replaced at the 200,000 km service, so that was sad.
