I keep it safely at home. My Saab came with 2 remotes. I keep one and my wife keeps the other. I do not recommend you leave a key on the car because it is too easy for a thief or other miscreant to locate and use. That happens too many times. I've only had to use the valey key once, after turning "turtle" in my kayak off the windward side of Oahu in Hawaii. My hard to open waterproof case popped open, and my key and remote disappeared somewhere into the Pacific. I was in some waves and trying to set things right again, plus survive, and didn't notice the missing key until later. I had a friend bring my spare key from the house which allowed me to get home with the car. Saab Hawaii helped me replace the key and the remote, and reprogram with my wife's remote and key.
