Just filled up in Toronto area with 92 octane. Cost 58.00 Canadian. Bought my 99 93se 4 months ago. My owners manual only gave the minimum 87 rating, nothing about optimal octane,so I ran 87 for 10 weeks. Went back to the good stuff after noticing the car had lost its fun factor. Even after 4 tankfuls and unhooking the battery etc. performance is still down. On the plus side, I don't have to deal with the dreaded torque steer anymore. Still ticked with the manual though. Eventually noticed sticker on gas flap {min. octane 92}. Have major service coming soon. Hoping the problem can be rectified at this time.
